Main beach
Chill, a lot more sheltered than further down the coast. First time using the rip to get out — so much easier!
Short
Caught a few, but by the time I had arrived things were bigger & messier so it was a lot of effort getting out on the longboard a triathlon makes it hard to park near the beach but will try my luck further down.
First in a while
Caught a couple of really good long rides, but otherwise just futzing around. Tired arms.
Messy but fun
The waves got progressively worse as time went on, but I had some fun rides at a new spot I hadn’t tried.
Small fun
Perfect size for me, most waves I’ve caught in ages. Got near the front of my board but not quite all the way. Stoked.
One and done
Only caught one proper wave, but it was a good one! Some sets were over head high, so not ideal conditions for the longboard. After so long between surfs I knew I’d be pretty tired paddling out, so just took it easy and rested a lot once out the back.
Waves were a little hard to get on — paddled a lot but more often than not fell off the back. They would close out if you started further in, so just had to wait for the right sets to come through. Perhaps not the right tide? Had a few good rides though, and a beautiful day to be out on the water!
Very first surf at the Mount, and first surf on the new Keyo. Mixed bag in terms of wave consistency, but just nice to be out on the water.
